Is anyone on cimzia? My doc is thinking of putting me on this instead of humira. How is it working for you and how much does this cost? I see they have a card for assistance. Anyone have this card? How much does the card cover? Do you take this once a month? Or every two weeks? Any help will be apprieciated

I was on Cimzia for several years and it worked great while I was on it and I had no side effects. I had the cimpay - copay assistance card and it covered my deductible. I don't know what the max is but mine covered $65 per month. You take 2 shots once per month. I always put a cold pack on the injection site for about 5 minutes prior to injection and used the standard pre filled syringe rather than the auto injector. I found it was less painful because I could control the speed of injection. The faster I injected, the more it hurt so I injected very slowly and didn't have much, if any pain. It was a good drug for me for many years. Good luck and hope this helped!

I've been on Cimzia for 5 months now. You take it once a month, but I started flaring so my doctor changed me to 1 syringe every 2 weeks. I have mixed feelings on its effectiveness, I'm flaring again and my doctor is starting to talk about switching to Remicade. The injections don't hurt at all as long as you go nice and slow.

Does anyone know the wholesale cost of this? Example: humira costs $1,516 a month for the two pens a month. Anyone know the cost of Cimzia for there two syringes a month.

It's worked well for me for the past year. I pay nothing out of pocket using the Cimpay card = FREE! If I remember correctly, the Cimpay card covers up to $500 a month. I have no idea what the cost for Cimzia is otherwise.

HI, my daughter is on Cimzia and it's priced at a little over $8,000 without insurance! yikes! :)

I've been on it for 3 months. I'm having a mild flare, so my doc switched me to one shot every 2 weeks. I start that regimen next month. If that doesn't work in another 3 months, I guess we'll try another drug. The shots sting a little, but no big deal. I also use the CimPay to cover my copays. I looked up retail cost a while back and I'm thinking it was around $6k.

I believe my insurance was billed $5500 per month

I went from Remicade to Cimzia after being on Cimzia for 8 months i was having severe reactions. I would get dizzy, my heart would race, and finally had seizures from it. I was taken off of it and was having no side effects. Although not being on any Chrohn's meds, I did find myself getting very sick. Wound up having half of my colon taken out, 2 emergency surgeries and wound up with an illiostomy, had 3 surgeries in 3 weeks. I am awaiting my take down surgery in July. You have to remember that everyone takes to meds different. If you feel anything weird stop and tell your dr. The Cimzia worked great up until the reactions started, and sometimes it takes up to 8 months before you will see any side effects. You know your body, I am sure you will do what is right for you.

I am new to this, I am awaiting my take down surgery in July. I am excited and I am also extremely nervous. I had half my colon taken out due to chrohn's. After my 1st surgery I got sick in the hospital they had to do an emergency surgery and put an illiostomy in. This was in Feb. Two weeks after those 2 surgeries I was rushed to hospital again, major infections. Wound up back in hospital, they had to drain fluids and put a drain in me. I wound up having iv pole at home pickline put in my arm, gave myself meds 24/7. Nurses came to my home to help me. I found myself back in the hospital 2 more times due to dehydration. I am due to have take down in July, I am so aftaid of more infections. I am also anxious to have this done, these past 5 months have not been easy on myself or my family. I am depressed, because I cannot do what I used to do. I have lost my job due to all of this. I feel no self worth. Nobody understands how hard it is to go from supper active to NOTHING. the clothes i have to wear are all super baggy, due to illiostomy, I am just beyond miserable. I am so tired of being tired from not sleeping, or draining my bad, i have nightmares. Nobody understands, they think I should be all happy and full of life. I try so hard to keep cheery, but it is so hard. anyone out there know what this is like? I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know I can't take anymore of this.

I just gave myself my first Cimzia injection this afternoon, with a nurse's guidance. I was really freaked out about it, but honestly it was very easy. The needle hurt a tiny bit when I did the first shot in my thigh, but I think that's because I was shaking so much. The second shot in my stomach I felt nothing. It didn't really sting at all injecting the medicine. No side effects as of yet, I'm hoping this is the miracle drug I've been waiting for. I've been in excruciating pain from three partial obstructions in my stricture over the last year. This is the last great hope before surgery...I'm only 32 and I want to have a child or two with my new husband before I even deal with resection issues...so here goes nothing!!

Crohn's - I understand how you are feeling. When I was first diagnosed with the DD, life was very hard because I was so sick. Constantly in and out of the hospitals and all of the blood transfusions. Not being able to return to work for years and becoming almost bedridden during the peak of my disease. I was told I would need a total colectomy which I did not want. I went through a very hard time was very depressed when I lost all my hair from being so sick and all the medications. Finally, I was put on Humira and it turned the tide for me. I later went on CImzia and since then I have been managing my raging inferno with milder medications. I just want you to take from my story that life will get better. Keep your head up and think positive. Be your own advocate and do your homework when it comes to decisions with your health. Most importantly, love yourself and try not to stress. Please let us know how you are doing!
