I am seeing everything go downhill at once so I think I'm flaring. At the same time, I'm developing what seems to be double eye pink eye. I've never had eye problems with Crohn's before so I don't know how it presents- does it seem like conjunctivitis? I know official pink eye is not a CD problem but just wondering if other eye inflammations look the same to a laypersons.

Help! I look like a freak!

Eye infections are a common problem for people with an IBD. If you go on the internet and look at the various forms of eye infections/complications you will see that they don't all look the same. For instance, irisitis has a red ring around the iris (along with the whites turning red). I get a lot of eye complications. So with any eye infection, you need to see the doctor to get on the proper meds. Usually with pink eye, you will need an antibiotic drop but for other forms of eye complications they usually use a combo eye drops that has both antibiotic and steroid.

So definitely go see your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and get on drops.

are you light sensitive? Is there any discharge? Do you wear contacts? Do they itch, burn or sting?

I am so sorry you are having eye complications on top of everything else. I hope you can get it resolved quickly :!

Thanks so much, guys! I now believe that it was bacterial conjunctivitis, which I tend to get several times a year. I think I infect my eyes while asleep as nighttime is so hard.. With all the fistulas my butt itches like crazy and I get a lot of discharge so if I get my hands dirty then rub my eye, gross but you get the picture. I always have antibiotic droops here and they feel better today, less red and no crusty disharge. On another positive note, I may be flaring hard BUT I was cramping so bad last night that I could not eat supper and when the pain finally let up a bit I had a protein shake..and this morning I felt better than I have in weeks! Usually in the morning I am on the potty for n hour or two..and I don't even have a colon attached! Ridiculous! So anyway I am living on protein drinks, clear fluids and coconut for the time being.. Way better than 10/10 pain!
