Terminal ileum looks fine-ugh!

Hi all,
I had my colonoscopy and egd last friday and I told the doctor that I thought it was crohn's. I woke up to her telling me that that colon and terminal ileum look fine. My stomach was quite gastritic though. She doesn't think it is Crohn's, but I still do. Do any of you not have inflammation in the ti? She did biopsies for celiacs, but I am doubtful.

Maybe you have gastritis or IBS? I would much rather have IBS than IBD. And if you have Celiac then it can be controlled by diet modification.

Not sure what brought you to your CD conclusion, but I can tell you that I have next to no inflammation in my guts (my TI was removed when I ruptured 20 years ago). I did have massive inflammation in the 18" that was removed though. I have the external of gut issues left.

There's still 20 feet of small bowel that she did not visualize. I think you've had some imaging studies, tho - I don't remember.

I've had gastritis on every endoscope. I've never asked my GI whether it's CD related or not. My history of gastric discomfort goes back to childhood complaints of "burning," so I think I've had gastritis forever. O feel better when I take my CD meds, a ppi - and now that I've eliminated gluten, even bette.

That's WONDERFUL that she didn't find anything in the colon or terminal ileum!!!

I know I should be happy, but I feel so miserable that I was just hoping to get it figured out. My patience is running thin and I am sick of being sick. Although, I have lost 15 lbs and my clothes are much more comfortable. I guess that is a positive.

I know - I am a big self diagnoser, but I am an eye doctor so it is in my blood! And it is hard to be patient when it is such a struggle to get through the day. I was doing okay because I could at least sleep well, but now that these joints are going nuts I am losing patience.

Please try and stay positive - it is good news that she didn't think it was crohns. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of what's going on.
I can understand that you are frustrated with everything. Anyone would be. I'm a nurse and they always says doctors and nurses make the worst patients!!
Do you have a follow up appointment for when the biopsy results come back?

She is supposed to call me this week with results and we talked about seeing a rheumatologist next. I feel ok about my care and my patience is improving. Thanks guys.
