Possible for Crohn's symptoms to go away on their own?

Just a brief (I'll try) intro to how things went down - (thanks for reading if you do)

I had a fistula pop up (didn't know what it was at the time) so I went to the doctor after about a week or 2. It literally popped while waiting for the doc to come in and examine me. The following week I had a colonoscopy done. The doctor said it was -more than likely crohn's-. He prescribed me Entocort, and Asacol. I took this for 2 weeks, I had really bad stomach pains and was having BM's 10-15 times a day this entire time (this was not happening prior to seeing a doctor). I stopped taking the medicine, the BM's calmed down slightly, and stomach pain went away.

I went back to the doctor and told him what was going on. He then prescribed me "Lialda" and told me to keep taking the Entocort as directed. The BM's picked back up, stomach pain did not. This time some different things were happening though. Massive bleeding everytime I used the bathroom, no matter how big or small of a BM it was. Joint pain like no other, I could not turn my neck to the left or right for 3 days. And my knee was acting up as well, and could hardly walk. So I stopped taking that after about 5 days. Then everything went fairly back to normal. No more bleeding, no stomach cramps, 2-4 BM's a day. Only thing now that's bothering me is a hemorrhoid (probably from the 10-15 bm's /day for 2 weeks?).

I'm really starting to wonder if I even have Crohn's. Before I went to the doctor, I didn't have diarrhea, nor bleed. I was experiencing some not so normal bathroom habits though.

Is it possible for someone with Crohn's, to not have symptoms and not take medicine? All of this medicine I've taken in the past month has seriously jacked me up I feel. This hemorrhoid thing is about to kill me, if that's even what it is.

I can not tell if you have CD or not, but a fistula is a very good sign.  it sounds like you have an abcess though if it popped.  A "popped" abcess my very well be the end of a fistula.  I would find it very hard to believe that your fistula (if there was one) cleared right up that easily.  The abcess may have drained though.

I also wanted to let you know that unfortunately many CD medicines can sometimes make you feel more lousy at first then they kick in.

Finally, that hemmorhoid may actually be a tag which is another sign of CD inflammation.  I have them and they are a real pain.  I believe that continued Entocort may help them--but I have not been on that so I am not certain.

Drat that CD ... some of the medicines just irritate some folks.  Keep talking to your doc and try to find something that balances for you.

Thanks for the reply. I may try taking the Entocort again, I have to do something. I know it's just a hemorrhoid or something or another, but jeez, I feel like just giving up on life sometimes. I'm 26 yrs old, I have Uveitis, blind in my left eye, cataract in right, rheumatoid arthritis and now this BS.

Hopefully we can web-diagnose this hemorrhoid real quick, because I go back to the doctor Aug. 10th, and I don't want to go back till then, I have over 2000$ in bills in the past month and I am unemployed.

My 'hemorrhoid' -
- I can feel a sore or something near/on my anus, it hurts very bad, especially when wiping, right now it feels fine though.
- I do experience itching, but I refuse to scratch, I will go lay in a bathtub for 10min before I scratch.
- Anus is swollen when using the bathroom, atleast from what I can tell.
- No bleeding, and no bump as far as I can tell. But something odd has been happening...everytime I use the bathroom, I can feel a small lump at the top my anus going back inside me after relaxing the anus, this has been happening for maybe 3 weeks. I have gone to the doctor after that ( 2 weeks ago) and he never mentioned that, nor did he mention a hemorrhoid (I thought I had them at the time, and mentioned it, he never gave a response, and I forgot to ask again, it's hard when you're being violated like that, especially considering I'm not used to that stuff yet)

So yeah, that's about all I can say about that. I've been taking hot baths for a week or so steadily, and as of wednesday, I started using preparation H along with neosporin. I have some things called Tucks, which are like, witch hazel or something wipes, but I stopped using them as I didn't see any progress.

This stuff is killing me...

If a doctor determines possible Crohn's after a colonoscopy then you probably have some form of IBD, Crohn's or Ulcerative colitis. That means that your 'hemorrhoid' may in fact be an abscess (but I hope not). Also eye inflammation and arthritis can sometimes be side effects of IBD.

Your situation is complicated because it sounds like you are also allergic to the prescribed meds. Lialda and Asacol are a class of meds known as 5-ASAs. I don't know if you are also allergic to the Entocort. I am just guessing here, maybe you are not allergic to meds at all, but please recognize that as a possibility.

Your doctor may prescribe different 5-ASA or even stronger meds until you find something more compatible. You definitely need to get the inflammation down, you already have eye inflammation and arthritis. One possibility is to look up LDN on the forum for more information. Some people find it effective and it has very few side effects. And not very expensive. You need to do your own research because it hasn't hit the mainstream yet. But some people swear that it works.

If meds are really giving you a hard time you might be able to cut back a little by watching your diet. Many veterans of this disease, even the strongest advocates for meds, watch their diet for any foods that can trigger symptoms. Gluten, dairy, and high fructose corn syrup are famous triggers but any food can cause problems.

There's no getting used to being violated with this stuff. Anyway, before I was diagnosed I had symptoms two other times in my life, both cleared on their own. The first was mistaken as lactose intolerance after tons of tests over the course of about a month. The second time it only lasted a week, I messed with my diet just prior and attributed it to that.. then a few years later, BOOM! reality check.
What you're describing sounds like a roid, I've had plenty. Something to help with the itch/pain, a creme called nupercanal. It's pretty cheap and serves its purpose. Depending on your situation, may make for an easier cleanup too. Hope any of that helps.

Thanks for the words, last night I had a pretty bad time, I guess with the hemorrhoid. I did start taking Entocort again, for the heck of it. It seems as if today, the hemorrhoid may have stopped but this Entocort or something is screwing me up big time tonite. Back and forth to the bathroom every 15min, maybe just to pass a bit of gas, or a small BM. I also decided to take some miralax I believe it's called, to kinda soften up stools, and I took a gas-x or something or another, to help with bloating and gas. One of those 3 things I've taken today is just punishing me tonite.

Hi, I think you may have IBS it is totally diffrent from Crohn's Disease.
Also one of the ways to rule out CD is with a colonoscope test done
by your GI doctor.

You wrote that you also have RA. This is also an autoimmun disease, what meds are you on for it?
Fistulas are a sign of crohn.

Don´t make my mistake to go with a probable crohn for years before you start medicate. It can make it worse and more hard to medicate to get it better. Insted I would tell my Doc/GI how it´s been and ask if I wouldn´t try another medication. Here in sweden they take a test on the stool to messure a protein in it to se if there is an inflammation going on, i don´t know what you call it unfortunally.
