lamb61...I am a fat crohnnie....yep lost all that weight 20 years ago when I ruptured, then gained most back, then met my now husband and took a particular birth control and had back surgery and my weight jumped higher than ever. Darn my sis was right...every ten years you get older, it gets 20 times harder to lose the weight.
on a positive note...when i went through PT about 7 years ago when my back nerve pain was kicking up again, I lost 3 inches at the hip, 2 at the waist and some in my chest. Since PT for back is usually focused on core training, it really took the inches there off. I was only going twice a week for an hour too.
I would love to go back to them as a gym! For now, I too try portion control...I use lunch size plates for my dinner and "graze" during the day instead of three major meals. I also found the Wii Fit helpful...I found some fun things to keep me active without getting to far from the potty and not hurting my troubled lower back discs. That swimming is great, but I still agree with most that say walking is the best thing for you....OK I promise to walk more if you do too!
