New to forum...

Hi! I'm new here, it's taken me awhile to actually join a crohns forum. I was diagnosed in 2009 after many years of pain. I guess I'm even now still in denial, hoping every visit my dr will say you don't have crohns we misdiagnosed you and we can fix you. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Anyway! I have a zillion questions! I started salofalk in 2009 as I was pregnant (may be called something different in your country as im in Australia). It was great but I think my body built up a resistance to it so my dr more recently put me on Imuran. I've been taking it since the end of July and starting to feel human again and my bloods are returning slowly to something the Dr could be happy with. He paired the Imuran with prednisone. I know my usual symptoms with preds are swollen kankles, moon face, weight gain. But lately I've had a few extra, I'm just wondering is it because it's paired with Imuran and If it's going to go away... The newest symptoms are feeling tired and irritable yet laying awake all night unable to sleep, shakes, something I wouldn't class as dizzy more like a fog like I'm not all in my head (I eat and I'm fine within 10 minutes) and also scary sometimes my eyes go funny like I can't focus and I see black/grey flashes. Anyone else had this?

The insomnia is definitely due to the pred. One of the strategies people here use is to take the pred dose as early in the day as possible. Another is to ask your GI for a sleep aide until you are weaned off the pred.

The others (eye issues and blood sugar problems????) make me think you should call your DR to talk about these questions. I think long-term use of pred can sometimes cause type II diabetes. But you've only been on since July - although you don't say how much you're taking.

What's your schedule for weaning??

I'm only 23 I have been on and off preds roughly every 6 months since I was diagnosed. I do admit I'm a lazy bum I don't take my medication at specific times it's just whenever I get up. I usually take them at about 9-10am. I'm just not a morning person lol! I've always been put on 50mg preds then move down 5mg a week til I'm off. The eye thing really scares me because it happened when I was driving with my daughter in the car and I was like wow lucky I was only round the corner from home and I could navigate half blind. The dr told me and I have noticed my eyes are light sensitive and I have noticed it when my eyes go funny I am not wearing sun glasses?
