new member whitechoc with a question about setons and sex

Whitechoc posted in another thread, but this is her very first post here so I thought she deserved a big welcome and a thread of her own.

Im just about to go and have a seton stitch inserted after many years of reoccurring fistulas! This site has been great to give me an insight to what a seton is like
One question i was a bit curious about is, can you still be sexually active while having this stitch in place.

I asked my surgeon about it after mine were placed. Her response was to say that she'd never yet had a patient come back and say, "Oh, that was bad." I think it's a matter of feeling comfortable with it.

I'm also a new member. I had a seton placed about a month ago but had 2 of them placed several years ago which then fell out/were removed & I did great for a long time after that. Anyway, I think it depends on where the seton is placed re the sex question. If it's in the vagina (like one of mine was last time around) I found it pretty uncomfortable to have sex because the seton would scratch my insides. This time the seton is hanging right out of my anus & I haven't attempted sex yet but I think it won't be a problem since it isn't in my vagina.

My current problem is that my anus is so tender from where the seton is placed (yes, even after four+ weeks), that I'm in quite a bit of discomfort STILL, especially after a bowel movement. I'm pretty discouraged because I was expecting the kind of relief I had from my abscesses when the procedure was done the last time & instead I'm becoming addicted to painkillers! I'm wondering if the seton was placed properly or if something else is going on (btw--I've been on Remicade & 6-MP since my first seton placements).

I'm kind of wishing right now that I was feeling good enough to want to have sex, whitechoc!
