colonoscopy/ endoscopy results....I survived!

Hi everyone,
Thanks to everyone who posted your support. It helped me get through the night. The upper endoscopy looked good. I have inflammation in my terminal ileum and he said my bowel was "slightly twisted," near the ileum. So it isn't terrible news. The Crohn's didn't spread to new sites, but I've been in remission for over two years, so I hated to hear the inflammation has returned. The doc told me to stay on the same meds I'm on and then set up an appointment in 1-2 weeks to discuss it. So I guess I'll stay on my safe foods, which for me is the "white diet," mashed potatoes , turkey, chicken applesauce, etc.

I'm not sure if it was a dream or reality, but I seem to remember waking up in the middle of the procedure in pain. My husband said I was talking about it in recovery. I think they must have given me extra anesthesia, because I was groggy and slept all day. I have a headache, but I'm doing ok.

I really appreciate everyone here. I'm relieved it's not more serious, but also a little sad. thanks for listening.

Hey, Gumby, glad to hear you made it thru! Amazing what we can do when we have to, isn't it? And at least now you KNOW pretty much what is going on.

I understand about being relieved but also feeling sad. All these years my Crohn's has remained in the one area in the mid-ileum and then a few years go I got the DREADED news!!! There was some inflammation in the TI. I actually cried despite it was mild inflammation just because of all the areas it could have spread to I didn't want it to be the TI.

I suppose it is foolish or silly but I worry more about the mild inflammation in the TI than I do the high grade partial obstruction at the old resection site. The dilation above the obstruction can stretch to the size of my stomach so its no little matter - still it is the TI that worries me most. My gastro just shakes her head. Like I don't "get it" or something.

Look at it this way: we shall survive - for spite if no other reason. *wicked grin*

I am glad you survived. ;) And I hope things will not run in its own way and you will be able to control inflammation that arise again.

I like my doctor a lot and I have a lot of respect for him. I'm finding myself wondering though, what makes docs decide to use the immunosuppressive meds vs. Pentasa. I know my doc uses 6MP. Humira, etc. with other patients. I'm worrying that Pentasa just isn't doing the trick. Maybe my disease IS mild, but I've been feeling pretty lousy the past month. I'm overweight, so I guess it's kind of a good thing, but I've lost around 10 pounds in the last month, not from dieting, but from just feeling too sick to eat. The last time I was in this cycle, I lost around 30 lbs before we turned things around. I guess I'll just talk to him at my upcoming visit. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I'm still having D today. I can't remember how long the colonoscopy prep messes me up.

very pleased for you , it took me about 3 days to get back to normal after my scope , whatever normal is !!!!
