My first Remi infusion...

hello everyone! so i finally recieved my first Remi infusion.... I got it on friday and it went smoothly... I slept through the whole thing... :) the only thing is that on sat i was sooooo tired..I was dragging the whole day... and today is the same thing..I am very sleepy, fatigued and my tummy isnt feeling too great... Is this what you fellow crohnies feel that are taking remi? or atleast felt, during your first infusion??

Hi I was on remi along time ago and remember I had no problems with
the drug. I am now on Humira and doing as good as when I was on remi.

I was on it for about 10 years, and I don't recall ever having a problem with being tired, but I've heard of that issue from a lot of other people, seems to be an individual thing.

The infusion Dr./Nurses will often give you benedryl or some similar drug the first infusion to slow down/limit reaction to the drug. I think I had that the first two times, and that made me tired. After that, I never did the benedryl again.

I felt pretty good after my first infusion, I think they sent me home from the hospital 2 days afterwards (I was inpatient when I got the first one). It might wear off pretty quick, so don't be surprised if you feel worse before your next one. It'll take a few months to really build up in your system and for you to experience the maximum effect.

Not unusual to feel better right after the first one, though. Glad it's working for you. It was a miracle drug for me. The GI used it as a last ditch effort before scheduling surgery. Glad he tried it!

I'm glad to hear it went smoothly.

The first several times I took remi, I never had benadryl or tylenol or any other pre-treatment drugs. I usually read or watched TV (only once or twice was I in an area with a TV) or caught up on some work or studying.

But after they started giving me benadryl, I usually slept through more than half of it. I was good enough to go home, and don't recall being particularly sleepy the rest of that day. I was always over it by the next day. But I've also read folks here who have been tired after their infusion.

I get tired that same day of the infusion and end up being a waste of space for the weekend (I get them on Fridays)...that's if I don't feel like getting motivated.

I've found that after this most recent infusion (loaded now) I have a lot of energy the next day. Very unusual for me since getting diagnosed with this. I think I'm trying to make up for lost time though because I've been sick since last Christmas. Whatever works I guess.

I also had/get the stomach ache thing. It hurt really bad the day after my first and second infusions, and I was eating food and drinking aloe juice like it was going out of style. It eventually left...I think.

My first two infusions i was very tired for about a week afterwards. All I wanted to do was sleep and I seemed to get more tired every day. But it went away, I don't get tired at all now (I've been on it since March '11) the benedryl does make me sleepy during the infusion, but once it wears off I'm good to go. Give it some time.

i'm sleepy afterwards and after that i am good to go...as for the tummy ache..depends if i was having a rought time before the inifusion.. if so..then yea it still hurts but after a day or 2 i am good!
