Well still sick and now I have the shingles. This disease sure is nasty. Sorry, just venting. Hope your day is a good one!

Shingles stink. did you catch it in time to use a antiviral drug? so sorry.

Vicki, I'm sorry you've gotten stuck with Shingles. As if we don't have enough troubles, we need to worry about that sort of thing too. I haven't yet had the pleasure of shingles but my sister had a miserable time with it. Hers was all along her chin and jawline. She told me it hurt more than anything else she'd ever had.

I use patches called LidoDerm for some of the nerve and muscle pain I have in my lower back and SI joints. It's basically lidocaine that gets absorbed into the skin. These were designed for use in treating the nerve pain associated with shingles. If you're having a lot of pain, ask your Doc about the LidoDerm. It's truly wonderful.

I hope this passes soon.

You sure have my sympathies!!! I've been thru a bout of these darlings and it "ain't" no fun!!! I was to the point, terrified as I am of a needle anywhere near my spine, that I actually went to the pain clinic and talked to the doctor who does the pain injections in or near the spine. I chickened out and walked out but the fact that I was desperate enough to go that far was in itself proof of my pain and desperation. Mine was on the left trunk of my body from spine to belly button. It was months before the last of the "irritation" was gone. And I still from time to time get itching along the shingles path.

Keah is right, Lidoderm patches DO HELP! Shingles on the face, especially near the eye or ear is especially dangerous. I hope that is not the area you have encountered these shingles!!!

Boy, I can empathize with you one hundred percent!  I had shingles during my first round of predinisone after IBD diagnosis and it was the most horrible pain, especially after having already suffered so much with everything else.  I had it on my scalp and face and it got into my eye and has caused permanent corneal damage.  So, basically, my vision in that eye is now blurry and weird and cannot be corrected with glasses.  Thank God, I still have one good eye! Something to be optimistic about.
