I don't want this to become bad for our moderators so i will start a new post on this subject if necessary. Thank you all for the kind thoughts and words and prayers and just for making me feel good after a pretty rough few days . Older than dirt , I would not know how to even begin such a writing endeavor but would love to discuss some ideas with you . My E mail adrs. is in my profile if you have time .
I think maybe a heart attack gets your body chemistry all mixed up . I really have felt odd today . Nothing I can nail down , just not myself . The pain meds have helped my back though and I can almost stand straight and walk without my cane , but not yet . I did manage to walk around some today and I am not happy with the results . I become short of breath with little effort and my wife had to help me along or to a place to set down . I am hoping this is not due to permanent damage to my heart muscles . If so , I am surly going to be handicapped in the next iron man triathlon or my next attempt to swim the English channel . Dang , that sure makes me sad . As for the rough ride Pmedic , not your fault . I do advise you to get extra padding for your own rear though as I have been in M1 tanks with a better suspension , even though off road is smother than our highways . I found out a long time ago that modesty goes by the way side when one is sick or wounded . One just as soon wear a smile if possible because anything else just gets in the way , and while I did not get the Brizilian clip job I did get a form of emergency room buzz cut and a good coat of bedadine that left me orange in places one should not be orange. This also clashes with the black and blue that has formed as well . . By the way , for you ladies that have heard all your lives that the way to a mans heart is through his stomach , I can assure you there is a much shorter route just a little north east or north west of the belly button and I have the bruises to prove it .

It would appear , I still don't know which way is up as my directions to a mans heart should have read, South East or South West of the naval . Boy what a week this has been . My wife has to make a run to town today so I plan to go with her and drive the little scooter chair around in the store like all the other crazy people do . I've always wanted to do that . Hope it has a horn . Look out world .

You should take that scooter home and tune it up so it will do 35. Then quietly bring it back to the store and watch the fun!

Thanks Dawg . I think I am going to be OK . Would love any recipes , after all verity is what makes eating fun . Really and truly I knew I needed to tighten up on my diet but with all the other things going on in my life I just let it slide and yes , it came back to bite me in the a, ah , heart . My dad died of a heart attack and my mom had heart trouble too so I got a double whammy genetically . I am determined to lose enough weight to get my diabetes under control . I don't have that far to go , not obese , just too plump . I will be walking and exercising as soon as I am allowed . Doc said to wait until he does an ultrasound of the stent site in a week . There have been cases of people doing too much too soon and I think the stents can shift out of position so I will follow orders . Last night my wife and I made a little shopping trip , most of which I spent in the car resting but when I did walk or stand a bit , it wore me out , so , I will have to take it slow to begin with and work up to being smaller . Lucky for me I did not donate all my skinny guy cloths to good will .
Any other recipes anyone would like to share would be greatly appreciated also . My wife does most of the cooking inside but I love to cook on the grill and in the Dutch oven . Ok , so I love to play with fire ...

Sniper no worries about the length of this post, I think it is important that we educate folks on things that can happen, Crohns related or not.

Its becuz of you I am pushing my docs to check my heart out a little more closely. This afib and plaque issues have me nervous, and I just need confirmation that all is okay or will be after a little adjustments. I was a fool and smoked for nearly 30 years and my Dad had heart issues, so its definetly something to pay attention to.

Hope you get feeling better soon and your strength returns too.

PS Just curious, why does the depression hit so hard after heart issues for folks? Is it becuz these types of things make you think more about your own mortality etc? Thanks for your responses. Hugs!

OTD , thanks for the recipe post idea . I'm really looking forward to that . One of the things I love about going to other places is the chance to eat what other people and cultures eat . Truth is , I love Vietnamese food . Not what you find in restaurants but what they eat day to day . I am hoping that post takes off and we all can learn new things to eat .
Nanners , Thanks for the leniency here and if we get too long say so and I'll start a new post . As for the depression after a heart attack , I am sure facing ones mortality is a big step for most people in that situation but I think its a chemical things as well . A persons body goes haywire chemically during a heart attack . In fact certain chemicals that appear in blood test are a sure sign that you have had an attack . As Pmedic said , pain can cause a spike in endorphins and I know there is a type of enzyme spike due to muscle damage . You may not believe me when I say this but I was never afraid during all this . I made my peace with the Grim Reaper long ago . He has his job to do and mine is to cheat him of his prize . Should I lose at this , you can bet I will be very displeased with myself , though I know he will win in the end I refuse to make his job easy . My only fear is causing sorrow for those I love . You can bet your boots , I ain't going without a fight . Some people go to peaces after a near auto accident , but I don't see the point . It's over and done . I'm really not a , what if , person to the point of driving myself crazy . Plus the love of my life has enough to deal with without me crying in my beer .
Vicky glad Keith came to grips with things . There is nothing like a good fishing trip . When I had open heart surgery I was given a drug that stops you from breathing on your own . As you come out of it in recovery, I guess the trick is to time the removal of the breathing machine with the return of the normal bodies breathing reflex . My wife says I coded and everyone went running. She was pushed out of the recovery room and was very afraid . What had happened was I had bit down on the tube from the machine cutting off any air supply . Somehow this was resolved and I told my wife later that I was sure she was removed from the area so she could not hear the nurse that had me by the ears and was screaming in my face , " LET GO OF THE TUBE STUPID !!!!!!!!!!!" That's my fuzzy recollection of the event anyway but I can say my first true memory of this was waking , nose to nose with the nurse that had her hands on my face , calling my name and telling me to relax my jaw . Now I know how the fish feels .

Sniper, Keith didn't actually code but came close to, I was asked to leave, or should I say shoved out of
the room. He was on a vent for 48hrs, but of some of that time they reduced his sedation, and he fought
it like a man possessed!! They ended up putting restraints on him!!

HA! I just realized that reliving these heart stories, it's rather like a bunch of women reliving the labor and
delivery sagas!! I guess we all have a story to tell.

BTW I've never told a fish to relax it's jaws!! I don't like touching them so Keith has to do it for me. I know
I'm a big girlie or a wuss, or both!!

Margie , I'd be willing to bet your sun in law had blockage in the left descending coronary artery , also know as ,The Widow Maker . I beat the 99.97 % six years ago . Guess you could say I'm on borrowed time .

Nanners , My wife is going good . She would be better but she has this dang husband that keeps giving her things to worry about . She could have been rid of him but God and the devil had a shoving match and kept telling each other , " I 'm not gonna take him , you take him, Noooooooo , I dont want him , you take him ." Now shes stuck with him . What a pain in the butt . Glad your husband takes care of himself and you . I'm still waiting for a full body transplant but they would have to do a major tune up to my crappy brain as well .

Vicky , you only hear what comes out of it , not what bounces around inside most of the time . Sometimes I think there is a little hamster in there running on a tread mill .

If this is what you deliver with a hamster running round in your head it would be kind of you to send him/her to the rest of us.We could have split custody of him. We could arrange a schedule on how to send him inbetween us.

But of course it could be a bit tricky getting him past customs

When/if you´ll find the clinic doing the transplants nessesary please ask them if they perhaps will do two for the price of one and i´ll be comming faster then lightning.
