Taking A New Job/Flight

I did get on that flight and had an offer for that postion yesterday. This will require a move to the West Coast--different health care plan and providers--These things can hold you back sometimes..I did have a problem with bladder/intestinal spasms on the flight up there but not on the way back..I did get chewed out for using the First Class' bathroom by the flight attendant!... I was told to get to other side of the curtain till she told me I could go in there??Anyone getting good care in Las Vegas let me know!! The position is a good salary and a good career move..

My brother in law is a cardiologist in Vegas. I'll ask him about a good GI and let you know. Congrats on you new job!

Wow what fantastic news. You faced down the DD and went and got what you were after. I think you will find excellent healthcare there as well as amazing real estate values! Please post and let as all know how you make out.

I may have to go out a few weeks before my family can go..My last and only school age child does not break until 12/21 and I think I may have to report like Dec 10th..This leaves me making a 21 hour car trip on my own..I have two classes left online to finish my degree that I am right in the middle of..I can't afford to get sick or have a flare..I did face my fear of flying and was fine except for the way up there I was in the bathroom frequently on the plane..I got chased out of first class and once when we started to descend I was not sure I could leave the toilet..I did not have that reaction in front of my interviewers or on the trip back! I know about the real estate values..I have to look at the best High School as I am looking..I am not willing to buy or rent something site unseen either..We have pets so apartments may not be a good option! M bowels do goofy things when I am stressed too!! I want this position and pay scale it is great for my career, and I want to be able to walk in and do the job with no CD issues holding me back! Every time I have taken a new job in the last several years the first month it seems I suffered from bad IBS..

More than likely cindy that is anxiety hitting you. Maybe talk to your doc about a low dose of something like Xanax to chill you out a little. Really does help, I use it myself in those stressful times. Congrats on the new job!!

I agree that it is likely stress as you know. A bucket in the car, relaxing music and Immodium for the drives should help. It is a big move, but sounds like a good one. The kids being mostly grown should take some of the stress out. Can one of the older ones help you drive?

If you can swing it you might be better (and cheaper)t to fly and rent a car then to make the 21 hour drive. Do as much housing (and high school) research as you can on-line. Keep most of the focus on the positive.

I was not sure who was going to be able to drive my car..I don't feel comfortable with my 16year old driving..If I knew one of my older two college boys could I would probably fly and rent a car..Trying to find a place to live sight unseen is even more scary..I have browsed the internet some..I have those two college classes I am writing papers for!

I vote for fly and rent. If you compute gas and all it will likely be cheaper and timesaver. Go find a place to live and then come home to pack and get ready. 16 yoa if licensed should be ok since you will be in the car with him/her. Let the kid drive on the long stretches. Just my thoughts. I am excited for you as my life is static these days........ :)

I would never have thought at my worst in 2004-2005 I would be able to do this..I could barely crawl to work on a liquid/baby food diet and meds I could barely tolerate! I know it is in the back of every Crohnie's mind when they do get better..I decided I could not let the fear hold me back..It did until about two years ago..Cars to household drivers I am going to have to drive it up there before or after..I would rather rent a car and fly!! I will see what happens! My college kids have not committed to going with me the first time or driving one of the cars out there! Thanks for all the support!!!!!!!
