I need a new GI in/near New Orleans, La.

I am looking for a new GI in the New Orleans area. I prefer a female although this not a deal breaker. I would like this GI to be open minded about supplements, LDN and willing to take Vit. D levels etc.

Dr Elizabeth McDonald is really good. She's at east Jefferson. I now go to Ocshner now with Dr. Smith. They r both good. But I prefer the ocshner system. I know she's big on vitamins but not sure about LDN. Good luck!

Dr McDonald was an excellent understanding female dr. But she didn't diagnose me. I took test after test. 2 colonoscopies, stool tests, etc. Went to Ocshner for a 2nd opinion and was diagnosed with the first colonoscopy. I liked Dr. McDonald alot but I think the labs must have been screwed up. And as a result I was misdiagnosed and suffered for months. I just don't think it's possible to test negatively for months then be diagnosed on the first test with a different dr. If she was at a different clinic I would go back to her. Dr.McNeely originally diagnosed me but he left to start his own practice. So I was passed to Dr. Smith. He's been there for years and has the highest patient rating in the group. He's very empathic and listens to what you want, which I think is pretty important for people who are knowledgeable about their disease.

I hate to butt in here.  But I live in Baton Rouge and I'm trying to find a Colo/rectal surgeon in New Orleans.  Have either of you had to use one and if so could you give me a name or recomendation.  Thanks so much!

sickofitall- Thanks for the information. Dr. Smith sounds like a good choice for me. I live in Slidell and it will be a little drive but I think it will be worth it.
Seraphina- I dont know of one in that area, sorry!

Hey pmedic, one of the guys I work with Mom lives in Slidell. Or I should say she did, she now lives out here in Calif with him, as she is elderly and was getting taken advantage of by folks, so he moved her with him. Small world huh??

Wow Nanners! It is a small world! I have lived in Slidell since 1974 I may know the family, LOL!
