bladder and remicade

Has anyone had any bladder issues on remicade? Just curious. My bladder has been fine my whole life - but several months after remi I had my first UTI and then have had leakage problems ever since. It could be related to gyno issues, but just thought I'd check in about the remicade aspect.

Good news is that remi has definitely put me into remission (well, as much as I can be - I still do notice the DD on occasion!). My GI doesn't want to see me for a year! Wow! Fingers crossed that I keep going the whole year without needing to call him. Thought I'd share this to give those hope that are flaring - I had a pretty hard year before I started remi and remission and relief is possible! Hang in there!

I have had some serious bladder issues since starting Remicade! I have had numerous kidney stones, and constant blood in my urine. It is seriously annoying (and painful!) but my GI wants me to at least give the Remicade a fair chance. I have seen a urologist though, and luckily have passed all of the kidney stones without surgery or anything. This is not a normal side effect for Remicade either so my GI is also not sure that this is the cause, but there definitely seems to be a correlation to me. The only other thing it could be is Imuran, although I am now on 6MP and same issues.

Congratulations on the remission blueberrydecaf, I so hope that it lasts for you! Are you staying on Remicade for awhile anyways? I find some relief after Remicade but I am for sure not in remission :( Nice to hear of success stories though!

thanks for responding CD - my GI also said bladder issues were not a "common" side effect of remi - but hopefully a gynecologist can do some more investigation. I have frequent bladder leakage now and the last thing I need is another leakage problem if you know what I mean!!
Glad you passed the kidney stones - lets hope both our bladder issues resolve. Would be curious to know if this is a more common thing than our GI's believe.
Yes, my GI feels remi is working - so I will stay on it - I think if I went off I would flare right up again because every time the remi is about to wear off some symptoms come back. My GI has now put me on a 7 week cycle for remi as I seem to get symptoms back in the 7th week. Fingers crossed it keeps me going for a good long time.
How long have you been on remi? I think for me it took at least 6 infusions before I felt the full effects. I hope it keeps getting better for you too!
