hello all, im new here. my fiance has chrones and were in a very interesting situation, ill skip over that for now... buuutttt... hes looking to find health insurance that will cover his remicade treatments.... who do you all have? any help you might have will be greatly appreciated! thank you! tongue

I have been on aetna, blue cross and both covered it. Your Doctor will just need to provide the approprite reasons why remicade and what your fiance have failed previously. Id you have had surgery or hospital stays, that helps as well. I suggest you talk to you Dr or his nurse that completes all the paper work. If you dont have insurance now, then getting it with crohn;s is not easy nor inexpensive. remicade has a program to help with costs. Dr will have all of that as well.

thanks so much, its definitely a start. he has insurance... but hes moving to the usa from canada, so idk if that will count as no insurance, or count as currently having insurance... thats just going to be another hurdle....
so basically, you just had to fight for coverage a bit?

not at all! the Dr office did all of that for me. They know exactly what the insurance companies need to approve

I have Highmark. Each treatment cost about $2,900. My insurance picks up most of the cost and my copy is 10% or about $290. The drug company has a program called Remistart and they help with the copay which usually comes out to about half of the $290.. The phone number for the program is 877-324-2145. Your doctor should have an application for the Reimistart program. They will have to fill out part of it and sign and submit it to Remistart.
