I was misdiagnosed with PCOS, but my situation was a little different. All my blood work came back fine, but I had not had a period on my own for almost 2 years. (I had a normal cycle before I got Crohn's.) My OB diagnosed me with PCOS after an ultrasound on my ovaries showed several cysts. Long story short, I went to a reproductive endocrinologist and he diagnosed me with hypothalamic amenorrhea. They can both show cysts on your ovaries, but with PCOS, the cysts usually form a "string of pearls".
With all the research I did on PCOS when I thought I had it, it seems like there are varying ways to diagnose it. My OB's office said you don't have to have both an ultrasound and blood work to confirm, the diagnosis can be based on one or the other. However, in my case, it just didn't seem right, so I pursued it. I don't think there's anything wrong for you wanting to question it. I don't know a lot about Cushings, but if your symptoms are more in line with that, I would definitely ask her about it. Have you been on steroids a lot? I remember reading that steroids can correlate with Cushings.
I would pursue it further and possibly try and get a second opinion. Hope you get it figure dout.
