Potassium- not dissolving?

Hi!  I was wondering if anyone had problems not digesting Potassium- specifically people without a large intestine?  I have been taking potassium for a few weeks now, but notice that is always passes thru quickly as well as looking the same.  I have had the same problem with Asacol- but that was just the "coating" portion that was passing thru.  I am almost certain the Potassium is all the pill- not just that waxing part.

Anyone have advice on this ?

A thing about potassium - it can cause stomach damage. I don't know if those pills you're taking are enteric-coated, but they might be. In which case, dissolving them first would defeat the purpose.

As for the problem of the pills not dissolving, might be a good idea to mention this to your doctor.

To get more potassium you can, if you wish, try those "light salts" which are sold in the supermarket. They are a combination of 50% NaCl and KCl (potassium chloride). Just use it as normal table salt. Again, if stomach problems develop, discontinue it. You don't want to make things worse.
