Some of you may have followed my housing issues with my roommates and how they were so mean to me regarding my Crohn's symptoms a while back. Luckily I have not had to deal with that since November and I have been so much more at peace in a private room. Well, now the housing sign up is starting again for next year. There is an option to "Squat" which is where you stay in the exact same room next semester. Well I am a very proactive person so 2 weeks ago I chatted with someone from housing and asked them if I could "Squat" for next Fall and I told them my room number and all my info and was specifically told that yes I could squat, just to make sure to do so in the designated time. That is from Feb 27-29th. So this morning I go to sign up and get an error msg. telling me I can't squat. So I go onto chat again and they basically tell me "Oh Well, It's weird it's saying that, but if it says that, you can't squat." So I say, alright but will I be able to sign up for a similar room. And i get the answer " Well, after everyone who wants to squat squats, if there are still similar rooms available you can. So I'm thinking well if they can squat why can't I? I'm thinking maybe the computer doesn't recognize me as a grad student and doesn't let me squat in grad housing, but noone wants to look up anything.
So everyone in the housing office is very "whatever" about it and lethargic. So of course I run(okay speed walk) over to the Disability Center(mind you I'm doing all of this hustle and bustle with an abscess which is slowly starting to drain by taking Cipro and Flagyl. And I feel really dizzy) I explain to the secretary my problem and how I basically need a private room and the housing staff is not really helping in assuring I get that room. So I was given an appt. to see the Director tomorrow at 11. And I really hope she can sort this out because I am feeling so overwhelmed, I'm having pain from the abscess and the constant BM's, the antibiotics are making me feel dizzy and nauseous, and I have 3 important exams to take this week. And now to pile on this housing issue on is just too much.
Anyways, I'm sorry for this rant I just needed to get that out. Thanks for listening.
