 I have been battling a flare up for almost a year now. I started Cimzia today along w/ 40mg Prednisone. I also take Phenergan for nausea. My question is after my first loading dose I have felt extremely nauseated all day. I am hungry (because of steroids) but, when I eat I feel awful and want to throw up. Is this a side effect from the Cimzia OR do I just need for it to get into my system to help what may be nausea related to current symptoms? AND if anyone can give feedback on whether or not Cimzia has worked for them I would be grateful. My doctor says if this doesn't work it is back to the hospital for IV steroids...

Cimzia was a great drug for me. I was always classified as moderate to severe, although more on the severe side, because of major bleeding issues and Cimzia helped keep me in remission for several years. I never experienced nausea or any major side effects from it although it took about 3-4 weeks for it to kick in but when it did, it was a miracle drug for me.

I hope the nausea passes. Maybe try switching to clear liquids for a day and then slowly introduce foods that are very easy on the stomach.

I hope you are feeling better soon and that the Cimzia brings you a nice long remission!

I've been on Cimzia since October so far, not much in the way of improvement. Granted I'm not having a lot of extra-intestinal manifestations right now, but I'm also taking 30mg of Prednisone and 25 mg IM of MTX. Plus the 2g of pentasa. so I'm not sure how much of this is related to Cimzia at all. We're stepping it up to a double dose starting this month (so 2 shots every 2 weeks indefinitely) with the distant hope that it will slow things down enough for me to get through the last year of medical school.

Ahh, to be back in the days of Tysabri :(

I started taking cimzia back in November. I experience nausea with it, but I take reglan and that usually helps. I noticed improvement of my Crohn''s after two doses, and more so after 3 doses.

I've been taking it for over a year now and never experienced nausea but i'm not convinced it's working for me either.

I have mild/moderate CD in the Ileum and started Cimzia almost a year ago. It's been working great for me and my last colonoscopy showed the CD almost gone. The only time I had any side effects of it was when I left it out for too long (over 24 hours) from the refrigerator and then took it. I had terrible stomach flu-like symptoms for 24 hours. The other side effect that I have is some yeast problems with my skin, I have yeast infections in my ears and underarms - basically in weird places like that..not in the female regions. It's all controllable with ointments tho, so i'm good. :)

Good Luck and I hope the nausea just goes away for you. I think the Cimzia took about a month before it actually started making me feel better.

I was in a major flare for 1+year then started Cimzia June 30,2011 and October14,2011 started taking 2 Lomotil  pills 2x a day and 1 tablespoon metamucil which helped bulk up and less accidents. Only had nausea for first month of two week apart shots but had anti nausea pills left over from when I was on methotrexate.

I don't know if it is the Cimzia or not but actually can wear regular underwear and poise pads for last 2 weeks. Will get excited if can have full month of no accidents and can stay in remission. Good luck because even with a food journal there is no rhyme or reason for flares and on top of Crohn's I had Pulmonary Embolisms Sept 4 so now warfarin has really made it hard to find foods to eat. Take each day as it comes!!!
