Best surgery procedur for fistula?

Hi people.

I will be going for my colognospy in a week time to check for CD. But I'm pretty sure I have it :(

I have the symptoms like Mucus like substance on my crap, frequent diarrhea, blood on bowel etc etc.

My abscess came back three times and right now I can feel that it is back again. The thing is they are always back at the same place when my doc told me the pus has been fully drained.

Yesterday night I finally braved up the courage to look at abscess area in the mirror and I was shocked!!! It is a HOLE. OMG! :(
I cried immediately. It is so ugly! Darn!!!

Can anyone tell me what are the best procedure to close that hole? Setons? Or protein glue? Any procedure that leaves the least scarring?
So I can discuss it with my doctor..

I went to touch my abscess and there's a hard lump. My doctor didn't really communicate with me well and she doesn't say what she is going to do but just wait for the colognospy to test if I have CD and then she will decide the best plan.
I'm so freaked out and confused now!!

Setons and protein glue are the only procedure I know that can help but seton must be left in forever right?
How does seton actually works? If it is being left in forever, how will the ugly hole going to close itself?

Earlier on I wiped my bowel and notice slight watery liquid on the tissue on the abscess spot.. I think there is still pus left inside. :( What luck!

You mentioned you had pig skin plugs, fiber glue and then the advance slide flap which works?
Does that mean that the pig skin plugs and glue didn't work for you?

Can you please explain how does the slide flap works?
Do you have any obvious scar or hole left? :(

I really hope the hole will close as it is really disturbing me. sigh..

Are you also on medications everyday? Do they work?

Hi again! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The fiber n glue as well as the pig skin plugs did not work. To be honest I was so young and ashamed of my condition when he did the advance flap that I hardly paid any attention and had my parents know all the details. They would never steer me in a bad direction. I am much more knowledgeable now when I get procedures or anything done. It was very tough being so young. I do not have any scars or holes. My surgeon was the best! To bad he moved outta state :(

Keep ur head up. Things will get better.

Remission to me means when ur living ur life crohns free. You basically would never know or think you had the disease becuz of how healthy you are.

Pain definitely is associated with crohns!!! Horrible stomach pains that make me bend over and sometimes vomit. Pain from fissure in my rectum when I pass my bowels. A throb that makes a heating pad my BFF.

Hi again, I really need some help here.

My colognospy is drawing nearer and I'm freaked out now!!
What if they really diagnose that I have chron's? :(
I will have to start taking the medicine FOR LIFE. And I cant afford it!! My family has financial problem too :(

Do you guys think it is OK for me to skip the colognospy and just get surgery done to fix the fistula?
I just want the fistula to heal and dont want to bother anymore :(

Posting to say: do not skip the colonoscopy. Get the Crohn's diagnosis, if that is what it is (very likely). Burying your head in the sand won't make the Crohn's go away: it will just fester away inside your guts, getting worse. Trust me, I'm speaking from personal experience on that one.

I don't know about paying for meds :-( In the US, there's various financial aid schemes; you contact the makers of the drugs for help, I think, as has already been said...

I've not had fistulas, so cannot comment on fistula surgeries I'm afraid. But Remicade is meant to be good at closing up fistulas. I presume that would get rid of the hole you don't like...
