To travel or not to travel

Hi.

I had a simliar situtaiton when my husband was away training and the only way to see he was to fly for several hours or not see him for 6 momths. I started to prepare long before the trip. I went to a restricted liquid or very little food diet a couple of days before to try and insure that I didn't risk a flare up. I also tried to get plenty of rest and packed very slowly over time. I had my docctor write me a prescription for xanax so stress would not trigger a flare up. I was staying in a hotel so food was a slight issue but it was extended stay so I shopped for myself with a list I wrote up before I left. I had a letter from my doctor just in case I had to go to an E.R. explaining my condition and how to contact them at home in Boston. I flew with my medication in my pursue but I didn't have medication that needed to be kept at temperature at that time. If you are concerned about your Remicade you could ask your supplier about shipping a dose or two to your sister's house or FedEx has medical transport for medication. I also worked out which hospital I would use if I need one when I got there.

I will tell you I was very happy I went. I did really well for the 3 week trip. I did have an attack but that was because my grandmother who raised me died while I was there and also on the same day ate at very bad diner which was a big slip on my part. I did have to use the E.R. on that day. The letter from my doctor and picking the right place made all the difference for me If your sister has a doctor in the area maybe he could suggest the best place to go just in case. I also had my dad nearby on that trip and my husband is very suppportive. Having family for suppport in case of an issue was very nice. I would definately do it again.

Have a wonderful time. I too started to feel lousy before I left on that trip because I was stressing. The Xanax, staying on my medication, resting, preparing and keeping to a restricted diet helped that to subside quickly.

Though awkward...adult diapers.

I wear pads, as it provides me enough extra time, but adult diapers would probably be better. I wear pads cause they give me enough time if it starts leaking to get to the bathroom. If you speak with the airline, request to be at the very back or front of the plane, so you have relatively quick restroom access (you can usually achieve this with a doctor's note if necessary).
