Help! PLEASE! Any good Anti-diarrheals?!?!

I was at school today & literally missed two whole class periods because I was stuck in the freaking bathroom screaming & moaning. I HAVE NOT FELT THIS BAD SINCE MY LAST HOSPITALIZATION! The weird thing is, I just started using my steroid suppositories again yesterday! What in the world!? mad confused   If this is as good as it's gonna get(just took Humira yesterday) then this sucks!

  Anyways, I have semester exams coming up & I don't want to bring Lomotil in my purse(kind of against school rules to carry any of my meds in my purse but on days like these, this is why I have a mini pillbox in my purse). So, I keep hearing about Immodium on here? Does it work better than Lomotil? Lomotil works good it's just I want a "pill" so it's easier to get access. Are their any OTC anti-diarrhea pills that work?

Hi Keepingfaith,  If I am going to be away from my bathroom for more than 4 hours, I take Imodium to cover me.  I have been using it for about 5 years and I feel confident after I take it.  I take it about 1 hour before I go out.  I buy the Walmart generic brand (84 pills for $20.52) that is a Canadian price so I am sure it would be even cheaper in the US.  I hope no one gets upset that I mentioned Walmart or the price, it is just that the brand name "Imodium" is much more expensive, and saving money is really important to me. 

I have had quite a few accidents and with the imodium it does not happen.  It is worth trying it to see how it agrees with your system and if it gives you the relief that you are seeking. 

I hope you make it through your classes, and good luck with your exams.

Hi dear, I used to have satisfying results on Lomotil but things became much more better and under more control when I tried Imodium. I take the brand one as I'm not a US resident. It's worth trying.

Thanks Ya'll! I will get the Immodium & the off brand. I have nothing against off brand medications. If it works and is in pill form, it's worth it! Thanks! :)

I'll use Immodium if necessary (I too use the walmart brand now cause it seems to work just as well).... I'd experiment with the dosage starting on the low end and work up though.

When I used Immodium it made me feel really crampy like my gut was going to explode so now I take Lomotil which is a perscription from my GI and it has worked wonders, I don't get any crampy or bloated feelings.

I do Lomoti(it knocks me out & keeps me good for a few hours) but pills seem to be what's best. Especially when traveling & at school. I use the Lomotil at night/morning.

I don't mind cramps if I'm at school. It's better than cramps & Diarrhea ;)

I take 2 imodium everyday just to leave the house, and I have done for 20 years.
