First Colonoscopy Since 2006

I had my first colonoscopy since 2006 and i'd like a little feedback from you guys.

A little background: diagnosed with Crohn's in April 05, when I was 42, surgery in May 05, started meds in June 05. I probably have had Crohn's since I was 20.
I was on 6MP for about a year, Remicade for two years & humira since 2008- give or take. I had a pill cam test a year or two after surgery that showed ulcers through out the small intestine.

The results from Friday's colonoscopy are:

"Mild colitis in rectum"
"There was a polypoid lesion just proximal to the dentate line...."
"Areas of erosion were found in the terminal ilium." (site of surgery)

There are also 2 perianal polyps. I should hear biopsies results in a month. What do you guys think?

Sounds like you have and have had some ongoing bouts of inflammation, but it doesn't sound too bad. Having any inflammation is not great, though. Maybe talk with your GI to find out if there's anything else you can do to get 100% remission.

What is your current treatment?

I"d be tempted to ask about adding Pentasa to the current Humira and a topical for the mild colitis in the rectum.

I'm a firm believer in treating even just mild disease activity to attain true remission and have nothing but disgust for those medical professionals who are "satisfied" w/just symptomatic remission.

All I am on is Humira. I was taking Colestid - but grew tired of having to time it at the exact time that it doesn't impact my blood pressure and thyroid meds.

Well, YOU are the one who has to live w/the disease and w/its symptoms. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. YOU are the one who has to agree to and take the medicine.

Rectal mesalamine will treat the inflammation in the distal colon really effectively and should help you feel a lot better. The erosion in the TI? Maybe a couple of months on entocort will resolve it? The perianal polyps - are they a concern for possible fistulas? It seems like the humira should be controlling that better.
