I have over the last 5 days been feeling like i need to go to the toilet pretty soon after eating , say about 20- 30 mins after food . when i am nn the toilet i pass large ammounts of gas and only a small ammount of stoll which has blood and mucus , also i have had incidents when i have passed gas that mucus has leaked out . i had a sigmoidoscopy and also MRI scan with manatol done in march and the results arrived back in april saying that i had mildly active symtoms linked to crohns colitis , but nothing un toward , i have not experienced the pains ive been having lately at any stag over my time of having crohns , my tummy hurts , stabing pain on left and dull ache above genital area , i also have lower back pain and pain in left leg and groin . gps and consultant seem to think that theres nothing wrong but im not convinced , 13 times in the loo yesterday and persistant pain , also very sore bottom and inflamed fistula with drainage of fluid coming out regularly . has anyone got any suggestions as to what could be wrong and what i can do about it?  im at a loss as to what to do .

It sounds like a flare up to me. It may be mild according to your GI but that doesn't mean you shouldn't treat it. I think 13x in the toilet is pretty inconvenient. I have persistent urge to go when I am flaring as well. It seems to me a normal IBD symptom. I am sorry. Passing gas while flaring almost always causes passing of something undesirable. I recommend going to the toilet anytime you feel the need to pass something. Wind is very rarely wind..

Do you think you might have inflammation in the rectum? The symptoms you describe are exactly how I felt when I had proctitis. That is usually most effetively treated with rectal meds - mesalamine enema will reduce the inflammation pretty quickly.

Thankyou for your input kazbern I have just been to gp and told him of the probs and also mentioned what had been said on the forum he agreed that it could possibly be proctitis and has given me some enemas to try , c if they help . He was though not sure due to me having the very tender area on my left side tummy and thinks that the enemas may not be able to treat that high and that something else could be causing the probs I'm going to give them a try and wait for follow up appointment with consultant gi .

You mentioned having a fistula...would either of your March tests identify internal fistulas/abcesses?

Tenderness on the left side is probably inflammation in the colon, and depending on where you are feeling tender the enemas might reach it. If the tenderness is really low in your pelvis, like where your ovary would be, that is the sigmoid colon. Rectal mesalamine enemas treat the rectum and sigmoid colon. Higher than the sigmoid colon is best treated with oral mesalamine. It could be inflamed from the rectum all the way up, a colonoscopy would be the next step in diagnosis.
