Despite CT enteroclysis saying there is inflammation in the ileum and enlarged reactive lymph nodes in the iliac chain, and lots of pain, crp and esr up (albeit only a little) and anaemia the scopes today were clear. completely normal. even the hiatal hernia I had 4 years ago is gone. So where is the pain coming from?? :-( so confused and upset.

The scope can only go through the colon and into the terminal ileum. It cannot see the small bowel at all. Didn't your DR say he wanted to do a pillcam next?

yeah.. but the ileum is where the cte said the inflammation is .. so they should have been able to see it yeah? The endoscopy nurse said they go about 40 cm past where the large and small bowels meet with the scope..

Everyone's anatomy is different, sometimes they can't get into the TI at all.  I doubt that any scope can get 40 cm into the ileum - I think it is more like a few inches (10 cm??).  It is best to ask your GI about how far s/he got with the scope than to rely on what a nurse told you.

I don't know how good the CT is at identifying specific locations in your bowel.  Sorry that this has become more complicated!
