prednisone and humera together

here is my dilema.  I have been on  humira for over 2 yrs perscribed by my gi doctor.  1 yr. ago i ended up in the hospital due to bloating.  used ng tube to get it undercontol.  after i waas discharged my family doc put me on pred.  60 mgs. tapperig dowm 5mgs weekly.  chrohns did good (accidents and ciontrol) until i got down to 10mgs.  so i decided to stay ob 10 mgs.  without my gi doc consent.  been on  both until now.  was admitted to hospital on  thursday, found out i have inflamation on the frst foot of my small intestine,(being i  have no large which was removed in 02).  found out by ct scan.  they put me on all different kids of antibiotics.  cipro,flafyl and a few others i cannot think of right now and pain pills.

     i have not seen my gi doc over 2 yrs,  needless to say he is not a happy camper about the pred and humira at the same time, and me not seeing him.  he has the right to be mad at me for not seeing him in that amount of time.  the last yr has been great, like i had my life back.   also i am trying to type this on  a laptope.  one key at a time.  My question is is it ok to be on humira and prednisone at one time.  i would love some info on  this.  sorry about the messed up letter.  Pain meds and being ticked off. at me my doc and this dd.  life does get bette,r i know, because i have been there.

I have only been on short bursts of pred while I've been on Humira. Recenlty did a 7 day burst and felt better for a few days but the D started back pretty soon after.

My GI wasn't the one who prescribed the pred this last time though, so I don't know what he would think of it. I figured since it wasn't long term, it wasn't worth seeing him. (I'm sure he wouldn't be happy about that)

Oh, and my GI requires me to see him at least every 6 months in order to stay on Humira. He does bloodwork every 3 months. If I don't see him, he won't refill my prescription.

Yes, that's another point - - -  Even when I was in a full remission for 3 whole years I maintained my appointments with my GI.  Since Crohn's is a chronic illness, you should try to keep your appointments with your GI even when you are feeling better (especially if you like him/her) in case you need them again.  That way they will have a comprehensive understanding of the course of your disease.  I think it's good that he is still willing to see you, and hopefully you can get back on track!

thanks for the replies.  I have a scope scheduled for the July.  will find out more then.  Gotta hate them tests.   One thing good is i do not have to drink that gallon jug.  just a small jug of malox for me.  beings i do not have a colon it is easier to clean out.   the scoope no biggie for me.
