Prednisone and ovarian cysts

I've had several small ones in the past, that disappeared after getting off the Prednisone. I have to take it for my Crohn's and adrenal gland suppression. I now have one the size of a baseball that is causing pain. All of mine have been found when having an abdominal CT scan for my long history of Crohn's. I just wanted to give a heads up to those women that have to take Prednisone as I do.

My OB-GYN is out of town, but since this one is much larger and hurting, another Dr. in the Practice is going to see me tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm very concerned about this one being so much bigger.

My post menopausal ovarian cyst was discovered during an abdominal CT scan as well. I was then scheduled for an abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. The cyst was 4 cm in size and turned out to be 'simple" cyst.

The common theory is there should be no ovarian cysts in a post-menopausal woman and surgery is recommended. The cyst was causing no symptoms and since it was causing no symptoms after searching the net I was able to find two sites recommending a "wait and watch" approach up to 8 cms before surgery as long as no symptoms and it remained a simple cyst. I found a gyn oncologist at Cleveland Clinic w/a special interest in "female" problems in women w/IBD. He concurred w/a wait and watch approach as long as it remained a simple cyst and caused no symptoms.

We've been "waiting and watching' since 2003 w/periodic transvaginal ultrasounds for the first couple of years. It is now up to 8 cms and still no symptoms and a Mayo Clinic gyn/onco has said "we" can "wait and watch" up to 10 cms as long as no symptoms and it remains a simple cyst.

There some other smaller simple cysts that have appeared and that are causing no symptoms but they still remain in the mms instead of in cms altho one is approaching 1 cm in size.

Obviously, no one told my ovaries they aren't supposed to be forming simple cysts after menopause.

I've had very little prednisone thru the years since my Crohn's returned after a 20 year remission after surgery. I have no idea how much prednisone was pumped into me via IVs in the 2 1/2 years prior to my surgery that occurred in my 30s.

How old are you?
Did they say if it was a "single" cyst with nothing "in it" or ?
I think if it´s that big they need to do something. Are they sure it isn´t anything other then a functionell cyst they may be able to empty it without taking it out. If they are not sure then perheps they need to take that out.
I have been operated three times the first and last because of cysts but they looked suspisious the first one showed to be a dermoid cyst and the last one a hormonell one with muscular tissue (?) inside ( haven´t heard of that before) Before the first op I haden´t had any treatment with prednisolone but before the las one I had been treated with it.
Haven´t any clue if that could affect anything?

My OBGYN said they don't remove ovarian cysts until they are 5 cm. (Unless they were cancerous or suspicious.)

I have tons of them, have had them for years. Even before my starting steroids. One of the reasons I started birth control pills years ago, it helps, although I still have some. They just keep an eye on them, they don't get big so they don't do anything about it really.
