I had 18" of TI resected when I ruptured in 1990. In the last 22 years, I have been mostly just on Pentasa when I remember to take it (first year was azulfidine). I have only had to go to prednisone 4 times and the longest run of that was four months. I did have a fistula and was a poor reactor to flagyl so that took about
a year to heal on a seton alone. I had gallbladder issues and it was removed. I can not go a day without cholestyramine or even jsut a saltine sends me sprinting to the potty....but....My GI is thrilled with me and my last scope shows no major changes other than the usual scarring at the resect site. I really am one of the lucky ones!
ps...I definitely CAN NOT eat anything I want. I limit my diet to foods that do not irritate me after the inital years of learning.
