Lomotil or Imodium?

I've been on lomotil for quite some time due to never-ending D.  I'm running out of my current prescription and would like feedback on whether lomotil works better than imodium or if i could expect the same result from either.  i know this may be an individual experience, but just curious as to whether I should get another prescription for lomotil or buy over the counter.   (((HUGS))) to everyone.

Lomotil works the best for me.

I tried both of them and wasn't happy with either one. The only drug that works for me is called Motofen. It's chemically identical to Lomotil, but for some reason it affects some of us differently. When I was trying to find it online (after it had been off the market for a couple of years), I discovered quite a few Crohnnies who felt it was more effective, more comfortable, and had fewer side effects than other meds they'd tried. When it came back on the market last year, I asked my (very knowledgeable) GI doctor for a prescription. He immediately looked Motofen up online and was astonished that he'd never heard of it. He wrote me a renewable prescription, and I'm much happier now that I have it on hand. Just one more drug that you can try. (Note: For me, at least, it does take a while after you take a pill for it to kick in. But the wait has been worth it.)
