I am scheduled for a Agile Patency Capsule for Wednesday morning and I have to admit I am freaking out. First the dang thing looks huge and secondly I was told I have a stricture so what if this dummy pill gets stuck. Wow no win situation with anything is how I feel. HAs anyone done this pill cam and the test pill?

I first had the test done shortly before I was diagnosed about 8 years ago roughly. I had a second one done a couple months ago. The good news is that that camera appeared smaller than it was 8 years ago. Also, it was a lot easier to swallow than I thought it would be. It's very smooth and slippery when wet.

As far as it getting stuck, I can't offer much reassurance there. But don't give yourself too much anxiety over the swallowing aspect.

It is large but by no means hard to swallow, like someone said it was very slippery and went right down without a problem.

I did one a couple of years ago.  No big deal at all.  The patency capsule is the test capsule not the real camera, you'll have to go back and get the real one after you pass the patency capsule.  Basically with the test one if it gets stuck it disintegrates and they know not to try the real one.  Really easy to swallow its slippery like everyone else said.

Yup, yup. The APC is quite interesting. You swallow it early one morning and 24-26 hours later you go in for an abdominal xray. If the APC shows up on the xray, forget about the PCE, you are not a candidate. If it doesn't show up on xray you are good to go for the PCE.

The APC is guaranteed to dissolve w/in 2-4 days if it isn't passed.

Mine didn't pass. *sigh* And it dissolved w/in 2 1/2 days.

Hi Malshay...how was your capsule test? I thought the same as you about swallowing that thing but it does go down pretty good :) Let me know how you turned out :)
