I'm pregnant!!!!
I don't think he's ever had to make one of those calls before! I had a follow-up with him on Friday from the endoscopy a couple of weeks ago (clear of Crohn's,
thank goodness, but I have a hiatal hernia). Anyway, at the end of the appointment I mentioned that I've been still having a ton of nausea. That's been going on since August when I had that feeding tube for three weeks. I also hadn't had my period yet that week, but I've had it so rarely this year from being so sick (I didn't get it at all Jan - June). Plus, I'm on the pill.
So happy anniversary to us!
Yesterday was our one year anniversary. Needless to say, this is one present we definitely weren't expecting at all. I was in complete shock, and then I called my PCP in a panic to get a referral for a good OB/GYN. I went to one a couple months ago but he wouldn't do a pap smear because I have a recto-vaginal fistula and then told me I wouldn't need a neo-natal doctor when I ever did get pregnant. Luckily (I consider it a blessing), he had me start on a prenatal vitamin then even though we weren't planning on trying to get pregnant until the summer.
I think I'm about
6 weeks along, so early to be getting all excited. We haven't told our families yet - we're planning to do that on Christmas day. I'm a bit worried because since my last period I'd had a colonoscopy, a surgery to put in a draining seton, and an endoscopy. I was supposed to be getting a fistula repair surgery on Feb 1, but we will probably put that on hold, I guess. I have been hospitalized over 10 times this year for Crohn's, c. diff. (three times), abscess/fistula, and pancreatitis (several times - bad side effect from Imuran and mesalamine).
But the good news is that right now I am completely in remission from Crohn's, c. diff., and pancreatitis. I haven't had any problems with it in about
three months, which is a record! I'm on Remicade, which I know I can keep using up until about
32 weeks. I'm pretty sure I'll have to do a c-section because of the fistula. Am I getting too excited about
this too soon? I know there are higher chances of miscarriages, etc. I have an appointment Thursday with a neo-natal doctor. Does anyone have any suggestions, insights, stories, etc. about
pregnancy and Crohn's?
Yay, baby!!!
