Thanks for listening guys. For those of you thinking I should avoid pred...here's why it is my next try. I have had CD fro 22 years and only have to be on prednisone every 11 years. I am a start with the minimum and then move up in care kind of person. Unfortunately, the communication of the hospital docs and my GI was lousy when I hit the hospital in October. When I was discharged 2 days later, there was debate over pred or not and how much and no one really decided until I called my GI (originally sent home with the punch pack for a week worth when they gave me 40mg in the hospital). The pred I ended up on was still the shortest smallest course ever (6 weeks starting at 40mg) and many of you confirmed that when I mentioned feeling it was a quick run. I want to give it one more try and maybe a little longer to see if it will do what it had done int he past for me. I felt good at 20mg...considering that was 3 weeks post tossing
cookies in the ER that says something to me. I have great bones per my dexa scan and the side effects of a round of prednisone is less concerning than my other option past it at this point.
I had a rough weekend--husband knows I am in sad shape when I am "even paler than my normal shade of white". My good friends we met with on Saturday with CD nudged me to call more too...they know me and that I will get care if need, but they are also like me that they stay to the minimal amount of meds needed. Hubby is insistent I call today or no later than Wednesday when I see my GP. I hurt enough and am hungry enough to agree. Woke up at 1am this morning and could not get back to sleep with work stress so that is not helping. Just really wanted it to resolve enough to get through a month. Going to call and thanks for those of you that understand. I have had mini flares in these 22 years---mostly could reslove with a liquid diet for a few days, but only a major flare every 11 years---was so lucky I have turned into a whiner I guess
