Like, maybe
finally
I can get a date for surgery. I would appreciate that <_<.
Also saw my GP yesterday, who gave me more Pred, Tramadol and Diapezam (I actually asked for sleeping pills, but I think he forgot and gave me a prescript
ion for Diapezam instead... Oh well, close enough >_>.) As a doctor he is occasionally suspect, but as a person he is lovely. He is going on a sponsored climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in February with a group of friends. Nice for some... >_>

Hope you get that date soon. Not sure how booking for surgery works in the US. Here in Canada, depending on the type of surgery, it can be months or even years.
Good luck with the appt.
Tom.

Yeah, I feel quite grateful I won't have to wait that long, really.... :-/
I was told before Christmas the waiting time for my surgery would be 6 weeks. So that's not too bad.
Thanks :p
PS: I'm in the UK, btw. So this is all NHS treatment.

Fingers crossed that the appt is productive.

Good luck, NcoT. 73monte- here in the US, surgeries can usually be fitted in within a couple of weeks or even much less- that is certainly the case at places like Mayo and CC. The healthcare system here has serious issues (mostly sheer cost in germs of % of GDP spent on it, and lack of universal coverage for all but seniors) but waiting lists are not one of them.

Wow, how long do those outside the US have to wait? That must be terrible! I went to my surgeon Monday and he tried to work me in for today, but then saw I'd been on Humira and he said he wanted to wait 2 weeks for it to get out of my system. Apparently there have been cases in which humira complicates recovery. I have been whining about
having to wait 2 whole weeks, but I'm going to drink a glass of thankful today. I had no idea!

discreet cough

13 days, and I'm not an urgent case - Pred is keeping me afloat. Anyway, I need to be measured for a stoma in the meantime, so I can't have surgery too soon after seeing the surgeon.

Thank you, folks :p
Got a letter from the hospital today. (Three in fact >_>.) I've got to go for a health check-up next Thursday; the operation will be cancelled if I don't go, so obviously that is compulsory. Also got a date for my bone DEXA scan, which falls on the same day as surgery stupidly enough, so that will have to be cancelled. The third letter was just a summary of my last appointment, which seemed accurate enough, but I'm starting to get paranoid about
being told I look 'Cushingoid'... :-/

The "cushingoid" comment helps them to justify the surgery...that you are too dependent on steroids. Hopefully after surgery you won't need steroids again and your beautiful face will emerge:)
