I've used creatine before with no ill effects but the last few times I've tried just a creatine supplement I seemed to have some discomfort (not sure if its coincidental or actually the creatine).
Whey protein has been similar but more tolerable for me. Depending on how sensitive you are to dairy products will probably dictate how this treats you.
I've used/tried different types of these products since about your age with no major side effects. Was on purinethol, asacol and pred at first diagnosis and on Pentasa and Imuran now. Haven't had any reactions with those meds, but you'll hafta check what meds your on and maybe check with the doc about any possible reactions.
Now I pretty much just drink a glass of whole milk as a post workout drink and will use hard boiled eggs as a nice snack as they have decent protein (and are supposed to be easily digestable), although I'm not trying to put on any weight at the moment. You'll just hafta try and eat as healthy as possible for you (everyone's diet on here is different) and keep your calorie intake up.
Best advice I have for getting into shape is just go do it. You're gonna have days you feel like crap and days you're really tired and you'll probably hafta work harder than some others. But as long as you're not in too much pain or close to, uh, 'letting loose' get out there and do it.
