Candida Test Results, Need Help Interpreting

I have an 8 year old son with crohn's (diagnosed 9 weeks ago)and we had some routine bloodwork done a few days ago so I requested that we get tested for Candida Albicans (bloodtest). Quest Diagnostics lab criteria is

<1.0 Antibody not detected
> or = 1.0 Antibody detection

the results are:

C. Albicans IGG 0.8 (in range)
C. Albicans IGA 2.2 (HIGH)
C. Albicans IGM 1.1 (HIGH)

I had read that if you are taking immunosuppresants that it's very likely that you may get a false negative on this test. He has been taking an immunosuppresant (6MP)for 8 weeks and he's still positive. I'm not extremely impressed so far with our current GI doc. I actually had this test ordered through our regular pediatrician so I'd like to know what you guys have to say about these test results. I know it's out of range but is this extremely high?

IgG means you were exposed to candida, not necessarily active infection
IgA is a mucosal antibody
IgM means active/acute infection

So I should interpret this as a high incidence of antibodies from the gastointestinal mucosa and a slight active infection, is this correct?  I see that you are on LDN, how's that working for you?

Based on your results your immune system is reacting to candida, wheverer it may be. The significance of this results is really not known. The medical community thinks anything relating to candida is quackery unless you have HIV, are severely immunocompromised or are on heavy duty antibiotics. With that, candida would be visible with endoscopy since it grows out of control. The signifiance of blood tests is questionable. One thing I can say is that I had a comprehensive stool analysis done with Genova labs and it showed that I had pathogenic levels of candida. I also had a urine analysis done and it indeed did show candida in my urine. I believe these results because they were done by two different labs.

I responded quite well to probiotics and eating a couple cloves of raw garlic a day for a few months.

Oh yes, and LDN doesn't make much of a difference for me, though I continue to use it for some reason (wishful thinking?).

i got tested for candida and my tests results were:
iga 1.2
igg 1.0
ig, 1.4


how long does it take to get rid of the yeast with garlic? i took diflucan for 6 weeks and still have symptoms of muscle aches and get shaky.

Hi manuel. Are you currently seeing a doctor to help you?

I can point you in the direction of an anti-candida diet protocol. This helped me ease symptoms, while supplementing with Phytostan, Paraguard & ADP. All of which are natural and were very effective for me.

I had a huge amount of yeast in my system this summer after testing with Metametrix labs. I seem to be doing much better now.

I just had the stool test done after taking 11 weeks of diflucan. i am waiting for the results . what was your treatment plan/

stool test came back positive for yeast +3 and parasite blastocystis hominis. anyone heard of this parasite?

Hello all, did a doctor suggest the stool testing or did you go through an independent lab? Do your doctors believe that yeast is a problem? I have IBS-C and yeast issues. I have it so bad, my gut seizes up when I take heavy duty antifungals. Should I just keep fighting this alone or go to a naturopath?

I had the stool test done by metemetrix. I called them and they gave me a list of doctors in my are that used their stool test.

I read this simple test once and I find it is really accurate for me. When you first wake up spit in a glass of water....if your spit sinks and kinda spiders out it's high. If it's bubbly and sits on top...your good. Sometimes just probiotics and keep moving....yeast can't grow if your blood is flowing...exercise is important, which when you have crohns is not as easy as it sounds.

I asked my primary physician to order a test for Candida. He ordered a blood test and when he received the results he told me "you have it" but he was unfamiliar with it. He was unable to tell me exactly how bad I have it. My results were:
C.albicans IgG 1.6
C.albicans IgA 1.7
C.albicans IgM 2.2
I bought the Complete Yeast Candida Guidebook Revised and it lists 30,60, and 90 day diets but you have to know where you're at to know where to start. Also, it lists medicine you should take like nystatin but again, for how much and how long you need to know what the levels mean. Can someone please tell me: are these levels just a bit above normal, more than a bit above normal, seriously above normal, or possibly off the charts. Thank you.
