14 bowl movements after 1 1/2 weeks of prednisone. My Dr. wants to put Me in hospital tomorrow. A little scared and not sure if that's what's needed.

yeah, that sounds like my prednisone experience. the most 40 mg ever did was get me down to 12-14 bloody diarrheas every day with excruciating pain.

do you know what your doctor's plan is? iv pred is pure hell so it would suck for you to have to be on that.

Im really not sure...More steroids Im sure ...I'll find out in the morning.

whatever you decide, good luck. it will help to get some fluids in you if you are having diarrhea.

you'll probably get some stool tests done and have to do tests like colonoscopies/xrays/ct scans with contrast. doctors always wanna do every test possible when I'm admitted.

There was nothing hellish about being on iv steroids for me.

Basically, if you're still having 14 bowel movements a day on Pred, then you're not responding to it or there is another cause other than an inflammatory one. Nobody likes being in hospital, but if you're not responding to Pred, I would go.

I never responded to Prednisone either. Those Dr.s kept increasing the dose and I just got sicker. I would usually require a 5 day stay for fluids and nutrition. I am now considering a colectomy but I think I may try a few more drugs first. Good luck!
