Hi Everyone, i have suspected crohns disease and my GI doctor has ordered a endoscopy and colonoscopy and i'm terrified of the purge and the effects it may have on me. throughout my illness that has been going on for about 8 months now i have had severe nausea, diarrhea (also constipation so it could be ibs too), Ive lost 25 lbs over time, lots of gas which smells horrible a lot of times, and stomach pain. my right side also seems distended quite a bit on and off, I've been given two options for the purge and was wondering which works best with the least amount of side effects. I know I will be in the bathroom a lot but being so nauseous all the time I don't know how I'll be able to drink so much in so little time. The first is polyethylene glycol 3350 nf (aka miralax) that you mix with Gatorade, I'm sure most of you are familiar with it. The other is called suprep where you add 6oz of the stuff to 16 oz of water then follow it with TWO more 16oz cups of water all within an hour. this seems like it would be very hard for me to do. I would also have to do this again two hrs before the colonoscopy. Anyone have experience or tried both preps? My endoscopy/colonoscopy appointment is on the 21st and am trying to prepare myself the best way I can. Thank you!
