gumby....I am trying to see the positive out of your disappointing hematolgy visit....maybe this will make your GI listen to you that it is your CD. I am hoping that he will consider the issue more. I also rem that you noted that not everything was seen in your last tests. You really should address that again.
As for the pred....I am a big fan of short courses of it personally. All of my major flares were brought under control with 2-3 month stints of prednisone, then a nice remission. Hey if it works for you and you do not have any reactions to it...I think short course is fine.
I am also not a big fan of treating the symptom versus finding a cause...but maybe you can at least encourage them to do more for the anemia until you find a cause. With your small area issues for docs, I think a visit to the "big city" might not be a bad idea...if for nothing else than to help you past this frustration.
Now on to your "spoiled from many years of remission" feeling. Right there with you!!!! I go about 10 years between major flares and have been really whiny since October and this last big flare. BUTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!! That does not mean you are not sick. Yes, you have a chronic illness. If your quality of life is less than acceptable, there is nothing wrong with trying to get more care. Trying to listen to my own advice...we need to realize that we can't let a failure to find a complete solution drive us bonkers. Adapt & Overcome, but never surrender! May we both find that happy middle ground.
