For the NYC members - I am now in the process of talking to surgeons about a ileocolic resection. Has anyone gone through a resection in NYC and have a surgeon to recommend?

Had same in Delaware. He gave me a freebie and took the lower large intestine complete with appendix. :) It's not that bad, 40 cm removed.

Your surgery is becoming more and more common, which means more hospital and doctors are becoming experts. I don't know of specific Drs, but try to find the biggest hospital in your area, and speak with their chief of surgery. He/she will know which dr. will best suit your case.

If you can travel, Mass General has the #2 crohns and colitis center in the US (Mayo is #1), so you might consider that as an option.

If you really get strapped, might something like Angie's List help?

Hey..I am in Western NY, but I had a thought. Can you call a local CCFA office for their lists or go online. It is not the best list, but it would give you a place to start if no one on here has any suggestions.

I'm in the nyc area but right now have no need for surgery. Sorry I can't help!! Please do share your doctors name and your experience in the event I do someday!
