Remission is the absence of any Crohn's inflammation. So technically, you should have normal blood/lab tests and normal looking results on a colonoscopy, small bowel, and upper GI studies. You are saying that you have alternating C and D, mucous, blood, mouth ulcers and red bumps on your shins. To me, that tells me you still have active inflammation and therefore are not in remission.
I have IBS along with my Crohn's. So I can be having C or D and still be in remission. So I don't always call myself in a "flare" unless there are changes in my labs, like anemia, or if there are abnormalities in my colonoscopy or small bowel studies. I know it's all so confusing. I hope your docs sort things out for you.
How do you like it at U of C? I am from northern Michigan, but I grew up in Chicago, and I'm thinking of going to U of C for a second opinion if my anemia comes back.
