Bleeding fistula's

Is this page still active? I have a fistula & it bleeds? Anyone out there can answer some questions I have?

Well it is a long story. I will try to make it short. In 6/2011 I had a twisted intestine that I had surgery they tried to untwist. Did good for about 6 days then stool started coming out my abdomen they said I had a fistula. Needless to say at that time I had a hole in my abdomen 8 by 9 inch. Which after about 10 months additional surgeries & skin graf they closed that hole. Then 8/2013 they had to go in & they thought repair 3 abdominal hernias that had appeared. But when they opened me up my gall bladder & appendix was hugh & inflamed. They removed them did hernia repair & got out. & of course about 3 days later another fistula in lower intestines busted open. & in the last 4 months along the surgical line I have had fistula cause it to open & drain then it closes & another spot opens & closes this has happened 4 times. Right now my hole is very low at the end of surgical incision. Drainage has finally slowed down. But now I keep getting these burst of blood drainage. Getting nervous?

No drain- Just a hole in my abdomen everything leaks out. Bleeding so far today 5 gauzes 4X4 filled

Yikes, that sounds awful and scary! Makes my little RV fistula seem like nothing in comparison. I would call your doctor ASAP about this. A little bit of blood spotting might be ok if it got tugged on or something and/or if it had a drain, but that much blood filling up that much gauze is not ok, I am pretty sure. PLEASE call your doctor, and I might even go to the ER about it.

lol, excellent question! Tape a sandwich baggy over it and just let it bleed into there? Or wring the gauze out?

Hi I totally know how you feel (see my signature) Mine use to bleed quite often I use to wear paediatric stoma bags over them because I was going through so many gauzes xx
