I am an older woman diagnosed during my second pregnancy 22 years ago. I have been through it all. Several surgeries for adhesions and dissection-resection and countless colonoscopies. Happily for the last 10 years it has been reasonably manageable and mild. While a young woman I struggled to gain weight, barely making it to 90lbs. However, in recent years, while going through my last surgery, I was put on prednisone for 6 weeks. I gained nearly 50lbs! It was horrible needless to say. Since then I have lost about 30lbs. I would still like to lose about 10 more. My GI says not to worry about it. Thing is I am not comfortable with my self image. I can handle the scar on my abdomen, but the fat, not so much. Not to mention the mentality of trying for so long to gain and now to try and lose. I know I should be happy I am in remission for this long a period but would really like to lose the extra weight. I am active, eat healthy and think I am doing the right things. I also know my age is working against me, just wondering if anyone else out there has any advice to safely lose a few pounds. I am prepping for a colonoscopy and I know I will lose a little but will gain it back shortly after.
