Is it possible that I do not have Chrons? Colonoscopy results and story

Hello, I am new to the site. Thank you for spending your time reading my post. Here is my situation:

I am 25 years old and I have had bloody stools for the past 4 months. I have no other symptoms besides bloody stools that occur every time I go. I have never experienced stomach pain, mild or severe. I eat a lot and have no restrictions in my diet. I'm also very active. I do yoga, lift weights and run on a daily basis. Due to insurance issues, I finally got a colonoscopy on Friday.

Here is what the doctor found:
1) mild erythema of rectum
2) sigmoid colon with mild spots of yellow inflammation
3) ascending colon colitis
4)Ascending colon with yellow spots of inflammation
5) ascending colon with yellow spots of inflammation
6) ileo-cecal valve with the same
7) appendiceal orifice with the same
8) terminal ileum was normal

These findings suggest Chrons but I am still waiting for the biopsy to come in. Is there any chance that I do not have Chrons? I have a friend who has Chrons and she experienced lots of GI pain before being diagnosed. If not chrons could this be anything else? I am very worried since this seems like a life changer. I was also prescribed Lialda. Thank you for your time.

This is SO extremely similar to my situation. My only symptom has been bleeding, no diarrhea, no pain, etc. Happened once 8 yrs ago, then nothing for maybe 2-3 yrs then would see some bleeding only like twice a yr, then in Dec of 2012 I had bleeding every day for a week so scheduled a colonoscopy for May 2013, at that point got diagnosed with Crohn's. I had had no bleeding between that week in Dec and the colonoscopy. Some inflammation and ulcers were found, biopsies came back favorable of UC but the ulcers were sporadic and not continuous lending to the Crohn's diagnosis. I was put on Lialda and was fine until August of 2013 when I had my first "flare" and was on Prednisone for over 3 months to get it under control. Unfortunately, a recent bout of bronchitis and a Zpak has set me into bleeding mode again. I am in the process of getting a second opinion here in two weeks, given that my bleeding was very mild and incidences were few and far between prior to dx and starting meds. I don't believe the Lialda caused my flare as I was on it for 2-2.5 months without issues, however, it's so hard to understand how my symptoms could be SO mild then BAM! a flare. I suppose that's the nature of the disease but it's still frustrating and unsettling. I would recommend getting a second opinion if you're concerned or still have questions. There is obviously SOMETHING going on. And is it possible that it is in fact Crohn's given what was found. BUT believe me, I understand the confusion/anxiety over getting such a diagnosis when you read and hear about folks with MUCH worse symptoms. I suppose we should feel "lucky" that it isn't worse?? I wish you the best though, hang in there, it's quite a process in understanding what's happening with your body and getting the information that you need.

You won't get a definite diagnosis until the results from the biopsies have come back, but yes, it's sounding like Crohn's (or perhaps UC) to me. Don't be fooled by the lack of pain; I had zero pain when I was diagnosed and only one liquid BM (no blood) a day. I too didn't think I had Crohn's on the basis of my mild symptoms; guess who had the last laugh? Not me.

Now the thing with mild IBD is it can go one of two ways: it can stay roughly the same, never changing very much, or it can deteriorate significantly. Hopefully you have the first type. One thing that is very important for managing IBD is keeping the inflammation under control; I would not recommend learning to 'just live with it', as I once did. Take the meds; if they don't work, go back to your doctor and try something else. Good luck.

Like NCOT said, you might have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. You having mentioned, "Yellow inflammation", I presume that discreet inflammation patches with fibrinous layer was found which is a classical sign of irritable bowel disease.

I didn't have any of the typical crohn's disease symptoms. It is a misconception that most CD patients have bloody diarrhea, bloating, nausea, sweating, lower right abdominal pain and so on.

Don't panic. Even if you get the report positive for IBD, you can still live with it and gain your health back.

THANKS for all your replies!  I have been in denial for the first week or so but have come to terms with it.  It hasn't affected my life yet and I haven't been diagnosed to have CD or UC yet but when the time comes i'll be ready.  I intend to learn everything I can about this disease so I can fully control it and not let it take over my life.  Please keep us updated SMSladybug!
