Constipation after hospitilization for flare??

I had been released from the hospital for a flare after 5 days. I had some procedures and was given IV steroids, fluids and a Humira booster. Prior to hospitalization I was going 10-15x per day. Now, I have barely moved my bowels since Friday. Yesterday, I had a bm that was about the size and width of my size 5 ring finger. I feel like this isn't a sufficient bm after this much time? I'm not eating a lot but I am drinking. I finally broke down and took 1 stool softener. I'm tempted to take 2..almost wishing for the diarrhea so I don't feel backed up. I am on 40mg of pred at home..maybe its too high? Also-should I alert the doctor? Thanks!

I actually refused the pain meds because I was afraid of this. I was had sedation and pain meds for the procedure last Wed, skipped going on Thursday, then 10x Friday and that's been my last bm until the super tiny one yesterday. I was on a low residue diet so I was eating a bit-mostly carbs and some protein.

I was going to suggest miralax too.

Ugh, that's not good. But, hopefully now you can kind of regulate and feel better!

A low residue diet can make you have the type of BMs you described. That's the one thing I don't like about using the Ensure-type drinks when I have to be on them. Hope you get better soon.
