Crohn's is back in full force..

Had yet another appointment with my doc today. After much testing and months of feeling like crap, it was confirmed today that I do indeed have recurrent active Crohn's in my terminal ileum.. active inflammation and ulceration. Not exactly the news I wanted to hear, but it was also almost a sense of relief.. that all this isn't in my head! I am currently on 40mg Humira weekly, but my doc wants to try a reload dose! I will be giving myself 4 needles this Saturday, 2 needles following Saturday and then back to 1 needle weekly. HAs any one else done this type of dosing before??  As well, my doctor is referring me to the surgeon, it looks like I will need to have another resection. I had one about 5 years ago to remove a section of my ileum. Very frustrating!! Anyways, if anyone has any advice or similar issues, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

Hummm... that was my loading dose in my first time with humira. But it sounds plausible to me. Maybe I will sugest that to my doc in the next appointment.

Crohns is most often a fall back diagnosis when colitis is severe. Please make sure that all biopsies are cultured for herpes, and Titer tests run to rule out CMV Herpes Colitis. GI doctors can be skeptical on this, but more are understanding that you don't have to be immune compromised. I was misdiagnosed with Crohns based on a pathologist's biopsy observation. When I continued to relapse, I insisted on the cultures and tests. Bingo!! With the proper antiviral medication therapy, I'm able to control the flare ups properly and save my eyesight, all without the damaging immune suppressants.
