hmm, that's concerning. i hope you said something. always say something in situations like this; it can save your life. a nurse was talking about giving me blood thinners while i was in recovery after surgery. having previously been given a transfusion and having dangerously low O2/BP, that sounded ass-backward to me, so i said something. she double checked. i dont remember if it ended up actually being a near-mistake (i was still pretty out of it, at that point) but if it was, it would have been a pretty massive one. i also flat out rejected their attempts to give me stool softeners; my stool was PLENTY soft, it just wasn't moving. they failed to see the distinction, i said no anyway.
better an embarrassed nurse than a dead you. be assertive in your care! you've got a noggin, and no one knows your body better than you. Ask questions. Double check. As long as you're polite about it, they won't be upset.
