Good Afternoon,
I would really appreciate some advice. My Crohn's colitis is under control - to an extent. As undercontrol as it is going to be with medications currently available (I've tried them all). I recently started Cimzia my joint problems are under control but I still have a really rough time in the mornings.
My stools are formed, no bleeding and I'm not constipated but once I start in the morning my rectum just can't stop contracting for a few hours after my first bowel movements. I have the feeling to 'go' all morning - even when my bowel has clearly cleared itself out. I'm aware my Crohn's disease is pretty severe in the rectum - I take prednisolone suppositories but it still has stopped these uncomfortable feelings to 'push'.
It's frustrating because once it's calmed down- I'm fine all day. No pain. Energy and otherwise well. It seems I need some kind of muscle relaxant to stop this. I have 5mg diazapam tablets at my disposal but can anyone suggest anything that may help? I'm at a residential conference next week and will be really embarrassed if all morning I need to rush off to 'push'. It is down to the disease and not a learnt behaviour as my GI tries to tell me. On a recent run of oral steriods this didn't happen.
Would really appreciate some advice on muscle relaxants/ spasmodics. I take buscapan and mebeverine but only one/ two tablets a time. It hasn't helped. Maybe because the contractions are happening so low down in the rectum.
Many many thanks,
Stephanie
