I was just reading the report from the colonoscopy I had done last week and it confirms what my GI said post procedure.  The bulk of my inflamation right now is rectal (lucky me -- sarcasm) and a diagnosis of rectal stenosis.  Anyone with experience?  I've been having issues there for awhile and am back on Canassa suppositories for a month.  However I did see a note in the report that his is suggesting biologics, which will be Humira as I have antibodies to Remicaid.

I'm in the same boat. I have to see my GI tomorrow to prescribe an MRI as he suspects I might have a fistula and he hinted he might put me on a biologic if I have a fistula. I have ribbon-like stool and my rectum is swollen all the time. I take colifoam (a steroid enema) 2 times/week and pentasa enema when needed. The colorectal surgeon mentioned before that I have a narrowing with a length of 4 cm attached to an anal 0.8 mm fissure. However, I was not told whether the stenosis is due to inflammation or scar tissue.
I take a compounding consisting of GTN (glyceril trinittrate) and this helps a lot w the closure feeling, relaxes the anal canal and makes me able to have a bm. Other times, I have non-stop diarrhea and have to take several Imodium capsules in order to stop motions. Enemas are not a relief for me and I can't tolerate suppositories.

I also have rectal stenosis caused by scarring and have had 3 dilations so far.  I have another stricture higher up in the sigmoid area also, and I have been on Humira, but didn't have good results.  I have to take laxatives everyday to have a BM and have a lot of pain and discomfort.  My GI doctor has advised me to have a colectomy but I haven't been able to get up the courage to do it.  I am always worried about a blockage and have to watch what I eat.

I'm hoping to avoid dilation or surgery at this point. The Canasa seems to actually be working already. Much less discomfort of my bottom and less bloody BM. But at least I know what I'm dealing with now and the blood isn't from my TI or further up.

I realize that this post is a bit late compared to the dates that the previous posts were posted, but I hope it has relevance and people still read the posts. I have Crohn's disease with perianal disease caused by previous fistulae. I have had 4 dilations with the most recent being Sept. 2014. Each time I have been dilated the doctors have only been able to dilate me 2 cm just enough to pass a colonoscope through. My colorectal surgeon tells me that there a finite amount of times that I can be dilated before I will have to wear a colostomy bag. I know exactly what all of you are feeling. I also worry if my stool will be blocked which often times it is. I take a nightly stool softener and Konsyl before I go to bed. Konsyl is like Metamucil only stronger. It keeps me regular as regular as can be with Crohn's. There must be a better way. I am going to seek second and third opinions until someone tells me there is a better way to get through this.

Funny you just responded to this. I had surgery Friday to remov the stricture. It just got so bad dilation was no longer an option. Crossing my fingers this helps and doesn't cause a flare. Good luck to you.

Please tell me what kind of surgery did you have? if you had scar tissue did they remove it? Are you wearing a bag? I am asking those questions because I want to be able to tell me doctor that I want the same surgery if it works. My doc told me my only alternative is to wear a colostomy bag once they can no longer break the scar tissue because I had too many dilations. I have had 4 dilations. One of my previous colorectal surgeons talked about putting in a flap by using healthy tissue.
