I've been getting pain under both my ribs at the bottom, its quite mild and more like an ache but it never seems to go away.... I have lots of problems with my stomach & frequent nausea, ...my doctors keep telling me it could be related to inflammation in my intestines and want to put me on medication for it. I've had several tests and they've shown inflammation in the terminal ileum, but they say it isn't likely I have Crohns or IBD because its mild or something.
Andy, have you had a colonoscopy? Please ask your DRs to schedule one for you so you can have a definitive diagnosis. Inflammation in the terminal ileum is most likely Crohn's.
Entocort is a steroid which shouldn't cause significant side effects, but sometimes people get reflux when they take steroids. The way to deal with this is to use a ppi or eat like you have GERD for the duration of your steroid use. Entocort is not a long term solution to inflammation in the TI, and mesalamines are not that useful (unless you were taking Pentasa, which still doesn't have a great track record).
You need a firm diagnosis and treatment plan.
And yes, this kind of pain can be associated with bowel inflammation.Yes I've had a colonoscopy and camera capsule test, both showed the inflammation and mild cobblestoning but the Dr told me it probably wasn't Crohn's when I saw him. He didn't give me any details and pretty much just discharged me saying my GP should try and find some meds that relieve my symptoms. He seemed pretty convinced nothing serious was going on.
I am already on PPIs, a very restrictive diet and other meds for my stomach, so anything even slightly irritating is a no go because its so sensitive. The rib pain seems to ease when I eat or move around, but that is when the stomach pain or heartburn starts so I pretty much get no relief.
