I think it might be helpful for you to get a routine to avoid the constipation in the first place. If you don't have a stricture, then daily fiber tablets like psyillium (Metamucil or Citrucel)would be helpful along with daily stool softener like Colace. Also, you can safely take the Miralax daily and cut back if it is too much for you. Plenty of fluids and daily exercise will also help. Even when my stools are soft, I don't feel well unless I have a bowel movement every 1-2 days. If it goes any longer I get bloated, in pain and sick feeling. I have had the nausea and chills when I am very constipated before I'm able to go, so I do understand what you are describing.
